1. Register Early: Registering for wedding gifts should be one of the first tasks you do when you get engaged. POND’s Gift registry makes it super easy to get started and you can manage all your favourite items from across POND online, all while keeping your friends and family in the loop.

2. Do It Together: Choose your gift selection with your husband-to-be, after all the gifts are for both of you. To decide what you need, take inventory of the things you already have and see where the gaps are. Talk about the style of home you'd both like, and split up the final say to make it fair.

3. Register for Whatever You Want: Don't feel like you can only register for practical items. Today it’s not about the stuff you might need but about getting what you really want.

4. Over-Register: To satisfy gift needs for showers and engagement parties, register more items than the number of people on your guest list. Having options doesn't look greedy at all—you're actually doing guests a favour by giving them more choices.

5.Know Your Guests: Register for items in a range of prices so people can choose gifts within their means. Provide a mix of goods: Think traditional for older relatives, and affordable and fun for friends. Ultimately,  you should make your registry choices appealing and easy for your guests to buy.

6. Hit All Price Points: Be sure to register for items in a wide range of price points: under $100, under $200 and beyond. That way, all of your guests can choose gifts they can afford. You don't want your Uni friend feeling overwhelmed by the fact that she can't find a single gift in her budget, and you don't want your parents' closest friends to have to buy you a multitude of smaller items to make up one generous gift.

7. Take Your Time: Don't feel rushed, you may later regret your choices or miss items you need. Budget plenty of time for browsing and debating; you can always add to your list at a later time.

8. Be Considerate of Your Guests: Guests should also be able to place their orders online. We live in a hectic world and you want to let guests be able to order you a gift—even if it's at 2 a.m.

9. Update Often: When a guest buys a gift for you, your registry should automatically update, allowing others to see what has been purchased (and allowing you to see what's on its way). Revisit your registry often (even several times a day once the wedding day nears) and update it with additional selections as products are purchased, so guests always have a variety of things to choose from. Aim to have at least twice as many items on your list as guests at your wedding.

10. Let Your Guests Know: POND’s gift registry allows you to share your gift selection with friends and family who ask what you’d like as a wedding gift. Your registry info can also be listed on your engagement party and bridal shower invites since the invitation doesn't come from you, but from the person hosting the shower.
